This is a repaint of this first oil piece I ever did. I was in late high school, and had never touched oils in my life. I had this grand idea of what I could do with such a refined medium, and so I created this highly complex composition with confidence. To no one’s surprise, my skill fell very short of my expectations. It was not a good painting, but my art teacher took one look at it and said “Maybe you were meant to be a painter.” I’m sure that was just a throwaway comment, but it has stuck with ever since. So I decided to repaint it, to see if I can do justice to myself and the idea.

Original Painting (2023)
This oil painting series was created as both a study into different forms of landscapes as well as lighting. These were also the first paintings I had done in around 4 years, so it was a challenge to myself in terms of technique and skill.
